He was acknowledged as a pleasantly eccentric and indefatigable hard worker for the community he served: one of his greatest achievements was to raise money for an Yttrium Aluminium Garnet (YAG) Laser for the treatment of glaucoma at East Glamorgan Hospital\, a vital piece of kit in a mining region where glaucoma was prevalent but which the NHS had been unable to fund. \nGlyn was also a member of the Gorsedd of Bards\, writing under the name of Glyn Rhondda.
