From its home in Ferndale in the Rhondda Valleys of Wales, Côr Meibion Morlais, a choir of 40 male voices, has carried the unique tradition of Welsh choral singing around the World.

“Sea of Voices – The Story of Côr Meibion Morlais” charts the ups and downs of life in the choir since its foundation in 1928. The choir has performed in great cathedrals and national concert halls, but also in the more unlikely settings of a lifeboat station and Cardiff gaol. But whether singing at the Finnish Parliament in Helsinki or in a tiny church in the remote Welsh countryside, Côr Meibion Morlais has always engaged in a single-minded pursuit of excellence, a pursuit which has caused strife as well as joy, all of it recorded faithfully in this book.

Above all this is the story of the hundreds of choristers who down the years have set their stamp on both the choir and their community. Passion for music, pride in achievement, and above all a great sense of fun have all combined to make the Côr Meibion Morlais story a lively one, with every promise that both the rewards of hard work and the laughter will continue for many years to come.
