On Saturday Morning we braved the elements and the high altitude of Penrhys to come out in support of the Valleys Velo 2015 Sportive bike ride organised by the Bicycle Doctor.
We set ourselves up in the parking area just off Penrhys roundabout near the rest-stop for the cyclists and cheered the riders on with a few a cappella songs from our repertoire.
As you can see from the photos, it was a beautiful day with the clear blue skies and warm sunshine, typical of the Rhondda Fach during September.
We arrived around 10am on Saturday morning and performed until 11am, with songs including Calon Lân (by special request), Rachie – I Bob Un Sydd Ffyddlon – Wise Men Say Only Fools Rush In, our Isles Of Britain Meddley, arranged especially for Côr Meibion Morlais by our conductor, John Asquith and accompanist Roz Evans, the ever popular The Rose, plus many others.
Obviously we completely understand that the main event was the cycle ride itself, but we hope that those who were able to come and listen to us enjoyed our singing and we were pleased to be able to provide a little light entertainment during your short break before you went back out to complete the route.
