CORONAVIRUS / COVID-19
On Tuesday 17th March 2020 the Choir's officers and committee agreed to suspend all choir and community group activities until further notice. This decision was taken to protect choir members, their families, and our community.
Update September 2020: We are pleased to announce that although we are not yet allowed to resume choir rehearsals, The Morlais Hall is slowly being reopened for more of the local groups that use our facilities. Slimming World resumed using the Morlais Hall on August 20th and will be followed by Flicks'n'Kicks on Monday September 14th, Tai Chi on Friday September 25th, and Tabernacle Church on Sunday October 4th.
We continue to work with RCT Trading Standards to reopen our Hall while always strictly observing all present COVID-19 government guidance and regulations.
Please keep checking our DIARY page on a regular basis which we will endeavor to keep up to date with all event cancellations.
If you have booked the choir to perform during this time our Choir Secretary, Mr Byron Young, will contact you to discuss your arrangements.

Blue Plaque Unveiling
Saturday 19th October 2019, 14:00 - 15:00
Côr Meibion Morlais will be performing at the Blue Plaque unveiling in honour of Glyn James (26 March 1922 – 4th December 2010).
This Blue Plaque is dedicated to the memory of Glyn James and will be unveiled at 2pm on Saturday 19 October at 9 Darran Terrace, Ferndale.
Glyn was a Plaid Cymru County Councillor and Borough Councillor for Ferndale for over 25 years, and was Mayor of Rhondda in 1985-86 as well as Leader of the Plaid Cymru Group on Glamorgan, later Mid Glamorgan County Council. He was acknowledged as a pleasantly eccentric and indefatigable hard worker for the community he served: one of his greatest achievements was to raise money for an Yttrium Aluminium Garnet (YAG) Laser for the treatment of glaucoma at East Glamorgan Hospital, a vital piece of kit in a mining region where glaucoma was prevalent but which the NHS had been unable to fund.
Glyn was also a member of the Gorsedd of Bards, writing under the name of Glyn Rhondda. His widow, Hawys, was one of our featured concert soloists for many years.
